Target heart rate calculation?

Does anyone know how you decide what your heartrate goal is?

Target heart rate calculation?

-Subtract your age from 220. This gives you your maximum heart rate for a normal, healthy person.

-Multiply that figure by 60% to 80% to find your target heart rate zone

bulletExample for a 45 year old person: 220 minus 45 = 175 x 60% = 105

-Remember, this calculation is only a general guide. Check with your doctor first.

Target heart rate calculation?

220 - age = estimated maximum heart rate

then, multiply your max rate by 60% and 80% (.6 and .8)

-------

so if youre 20 years old, 220-20 = 200 max rate

200*.6= 120 and 200*.8= 160 so your target rate would be 120-160 beats/minute
